Old vs New – Crystal Cruises

Boarding at Venice port for Crystal Symphony

One of the casualties of the pandemic was the demise of a beloved 28 year love story between guests and the crew of Crystal Cruises. Late 2021, the parent company Genting Hong Kong folded in dramatic fashion leaving guests of three cruise brands globally stranded and ships seized by authorities. That was then, what comes now is a passionate story of rebirth and a crucial test.

Crystal Symphony on the horizon – docked in Fusina

Under the leadership of cruise veteran Manfredi Lefebvre and his life-“long friend Geoffrey Kent of Abercrombie & Kent fame, the Crystal name is back. Both ocean vessels, the Serenity and Symphony have been completely overhauled at Fincantieri’s Venice shipyard and I am among the very first guests to board Symphony here in Venice. Accompanied by our Canadian Vice President of sales, Julie Skinner, we will put the ship, the brand; and it’s promise of unrivaled luxury to the test as we sail the Adriatic Sea to Athens over the coming week.
