It’s been over two decades since I last foraged for wild mushrooms in Europe. Growing up, we used to do this every weekend in the fall as we searced for porcini’s, trumpets, and more edible varieties of mushrooms.

I was fortunate to get to spend a day with my cousins Evelyn und Markus in Bamberg today and the weather was so great that we decided spontaneously to go foraging. Boy did we have fun and good fortune I might add.

Our afternoon stroll through the fall colored Franconian forest was healthy, relaxing, and ultimately rewarding as we got to consume our findings over Spaetzle for dinner. Markus made the dough for the spaetzle and their home grown fresh endive salad rounded out the meal. It was a day to remember and savor!

Hi Rene. I hope this reaches you…..I don’t have your personal email address. Greetings from an old AAA friend. I have been enjoying your blogs. Say, my sister and my husband and I would like to plan a trip to Alaska. Here are some basic thoughts: 1. Approx 7 day Land trip from Anchorage (including train) 2. One way cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver BC. 3. Not a large ship. 4. Prefer the end of May 5. 2 Rooms- single for sister and double for Pat and I Is this something you would be interested in helping us with? Take Care. Barbara O’Neal

Barbara, So sorry that it took me so long to respond. I actually didn’t see this notice until I filtered my blog’s inbox. Normally, I get a message when someone comments but that feature fails from time to time. While Alaska may be too late now (presumably you traveled already), I would love to reconnect. RenePlanetTraveller@gmail.com is my email. Please reach out when you have time. Cheers!
