Bonus Blog – Brightline Miami to Orlando

Brightline train in Orlando

As our time on Icon of the Seas ended, my colleague Michelle and I had to make our way to Orlando for our Virtuoso conference. This gave us the opportunity to try the newest mass transit mode – the privately funded Brightline East high speed train.

Miami downtown station

A short taxi hop from the cruise terminal and we arrived at the downtown Miami station. Bright, airy, and very “European” in appearance, the station was quite busy for a Tuesday morning. There are plenty of seating areas with power outlets, a coffee shop and food stalls plus, the Premier cabin lounge which I was able to access with my ticket.

Meeting seats in the middle of each rail car

We had preselected the middle seats facing each other to work while riding. Premium cabin seats recline and have convenient power outlets and USB A plugs at each seat. Our 3.5hr ride passed fast as we cranked out emails and caught up on pending items. It was a fast, relaxing and comfortable ride I recommend over the alternatives of flying or driving any day.

Orlando station

This is a great way to navigate Florida with hopes of the network to grow further north and west to Tampa. Of course, the commercial success of this project will fuel tge expansion planned out West for the Brightline Los Angeles to Las Vegas route cleared for construction.
