Stormy Cancun – Gran Velas revisited

Tropical storm Sara

Another year approaches its end which means another trip to Cancun/Riviera Maya for an annual conference by our partner Apple Leisure Group. Timing is perfect as tropical storm Sara is hovering above the Yucatán peninsula for the foreseeable future, bringing winds and torrential rain to the area. Yet, despite adverse conditions, my colleague Nicole and I conduct our site inspection regime with several short stays ahead of the main event at Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres.

Gran Velas – Ambassador wing

After a relaxing nonstop United flight from San Francisco to Cancun, we checked in at the Gran Velas resort where we both got luxurious rooms at the Grand Class wing by the ocean. These adult only suites are complete with private plunge pools, king size beds facing the ocean and every amenity you could imagine.

A first restful night behind us, we were met at 10:30 am by sales manager Glenda Montenegro who showed us the ins and outs of this exceptional luxury all-inclusive resort unique in Mexico. The property consists of three distinct areas from its “entry level” Zen wing surrounded by lush tropical mangroves to the top of the line Grand Class oceanfront wing where we are staying.
