With Sara continuing to howl and rain over the Yucatán peninsula, we enjoyed the many culinary offerings of this magnificent resort. Especially the dinners are culinary highlights, each restaurant’s menu is carefully curated to the finest palates with incredible attention to detail. Our first experience of the offerings was at Frida’s high-end Mexican eatery.

The experience starts with an unexpected amuse bouche in the form of tableside preparation of fresh guacamole 🥑 (as per personal desires)with all the fixings including toasted crickets, agave worms, or black ants. 🐜 yummy!

Continuing the meal from top to bottom were a delicious and freshly made black corn gordita with traditional Birtia beef, a delicious black bean “espresso” soup, a filet of beef in salsa roja with pickled veggies and finally, the flan dessert. A true delight of artful plates carefully composed as a feast for the senses.

Our other night dinner unfolded in similarly spectacular fashion at the French cuisine called Piaf. Elegant and delicate, this meal was again artistically pleasing, delivered in perfectly spaced service, and exquisitely tasty. One wishes to have had more time to explore the rest of the resort and its offerings as this two-night taster was amazing but short!

This means a return trip someday to any of the Gran Velas, be it out west at Los Cabos, in the Puerto Vallarta area or here in Cancun. This is definitely the way to go for a relaxing and tasty retreat to recharge and rejuvenate. One last thing I almost forgot, this property features a Forbes 5 diamond rated SPA, which will take care of any remaining needs you might have.
