Stormy Cancun – Secrets Playa Blanca at Costa Mujeres

Weather continued to dominate our journey in Cancun with massive downpours on day one of our last resort stay. Our taxi driver had to navigate flooded streets and fallen trees on the drive along the north-western shore out toward Costa Mujeres. Once we arrived, a warm and welcoming staff took care of check-in formalities and off to our suites we went.

Opened this past February, Secrets Playa Blanca is an adults only all-inclusive resort with a Zen feel that is soothing, cozy, and held in natural elements. The layout of the property flows nicely with water and fire elements present throughout the open spaces, countless pools and easy beach access.

Our hosts, Apple Leisure Group operate over twenty resorts in the Cancun area so the question that came up right away is “who” is this latest property for?

There are obvious answers such as honeymoon couples or any other couples looking for a peaceful and/or romantic getaway. It is also ideal for birthdays (girls and guys trips) and other celebratory occasions. Finally, it is a great oasis for beach lovers that love white sand without the sargasso grass that has covered up so many of the Riviera Maya’s resorts of late.

Guests have plenty of choices when it comes to dining with 6 themed restaurants included. From a casual outdoor grill to highend Asian fusion or Italian, there is something to please everybody. If everything fails, 24-hr complimentary room service is on offer.

Culinary aside, there are several room categories (from entry level Run of house to oceanfront swim-out suites) available to suit any budget. Our verdict is overall very positive and I would recommit to any of my friends and clients.
