Our supplier partner Delta Vacations (which is the airline’s own package provider) has chosen the adventure packed destination of Rotorua on New Zealand’ north island as its host for the annual gathering of top travel agencies. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of this elite circle and represent Direct Travel.
Long-haul across the Pacific; the equator; and the International Date Line; our 12 hr and 40min journey aboard Delta flight 65 from Los Angeles to Auckland brought 21 of us together. A short hop on Air New Zealand’ Q300 turboprop bonded us, and the team from Delta Vacations as well as Lou from Tourism Rotorua greeted our tired souls on the tarmac in the Māori capital of Rotorua.
It toook a quick cup of coffee to boost our energy and we were all ready to explore the town. We started with adrenaline pumping luge rides down a steep mountain, swung over the valley in the massive SkySwing, and tasted fabulous wines.
This action packed day was capped by a lovely dinner at the Skyline terrace overlooking the town as night fell. Truly a spectacular first day that kept us all awake, all tge way to the night time Redwood Tree Walk which is an experience no one should miss. Mystical and enriching tge senses, this 40-minute walk through the canopy of a redwood grove was the perfect end to a busy and rather elongated day.
