After a long and productive morning of business sessions, our advisory group was treated to a private beer tour of the world’s largest single-site brewery in the world. Single site defined as brewery, malting, glass and can manufacture and bottling.

This facility opened in 1873, 3 years before Colorado became a state, and today brews over a billion cans of beer annually. Since the Coors Molson merger, this facility brews a plethora of brands under one roof.

From the delivery of Idaho and Washington state barley by rail, to the 3 week malting process done here, to brewing with pure Colorado Rockies mountain water, this massive factory spreads over 200,000 acres. The malting is done here for all of the 6 US breweries that belong to the company. It also makes aluminum cans and glass bottles for the entire country.

We learned about the reason why Coors is called the banquet beer – miners used to have celebrations banquets and beer was served – in 1927 Coors became the official banquet beer. Still only brewed here traditional Coors banquet is shipped all over the US. It is not sold outside the States.

As always, our hosts Globus Family of Brands is showcasing the unique aspects of their hometown Denver. More adventures are to follow this afternoon. Stay tuned for some icy escapades.
