2017 Trip around the World - DUA 25th Anniversary

Cape Town & Table Mountain – part 1

Our day started with a ride up Table Mountain. What an experience!
While I have claustrophobia and a fear of heights (as I get older it gets more pronounced), I was assured in two ways. Firstly, the gondola was built by a reputable Swiss company CWS in Olten and secondly, only 25 of 65 possible people were on board. It gave everyone tons of space for the 4.5 minute ride.

The views from up top are breathtaking and I had to pinch myself that I I am truly at the southwestwern most point of Africa.

Pictures say it all – it is a must visit for everyone to Cape Town and it will be on my group itinerary for sure. For those that wish to hike up, it is a 4hour or so climb to the top.

More on it later. My helicopter flight awaits.

  1. Breathtaking and terrifying. I don’t know how you managed to walk out to the edge of the viewer platform, much less lean backward. It made me dizzy and I felt like I was going to fall over the railing and into the abyss. The view is out of this world. Thanks for sharing. Now, am anxiously awaiting the views from the helicopter.
