Rounding out the day was a scenic cruise up the Danube river through the UNESCO world heritage protected Wachau Valley to Melk. Along the river we spotted sch amazing sights as the blue baroque church in Duernstein, the quaint town of Weisskirch, and a local artist interpretation of the most important tool for winemakers – a nose.
As you can imagine, this installation was and still is a bit controversial to the locals and it made for good conversations on board.
The evening on board was dedicated to Austrian history and food, complete with pretzels and pork products, complimented by beer, wine, and the obligatory schnapps.
It was a great night for all.
A restful night sleep was in order after all the festivities to regain strength for our visit to Vienna. Stay tuned for more tomorrow.
