Buenos Aires – Weekend Jaunt

A couple of expiring flight certificates on Delta were the impetus for a spontaneous long weekend in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires over the US Presidents Holiday. We landed at EZE after uneventful connecting flights via Atlanta and then endured a two hour line at immigration. With tge weather clear and smooth, all five international arrival flights came in within minutes of each other causing quite the backup.

Once settled at the modern Hilton Buenos Aires, we walked countless steps across this sprawling metropolis via the Casa Rosada (seat of the Argentine President) to the congresso nacional and onward.

We joined a small “free walking tour” to get some good grounding in the local history and tge latest experiences for locals and visitors alike. This was then followed by a traditional Argentine steak dinner and a long night’s sleep.

Tge next morning, we met our private guide from Context Tours for an amazing architectural walk of the many art nouveau buildings in this South American capital.

Rounding out our time in BUE was a mandatory visit to soccer’s holy grounds at Boca Stadium where Diego Maradona began his career. This colorful working class neighborhood is vibrant and full of passion.
