Our adventure continues for the next 7 nights aboard the 36 passenger pandaw style boat MS Avalon Siem Reap.
We boarded with 22 fellow guests at noon time on Thursday February 14th and began our sailing through the maze of waterways toward the right-most arm of the Mekong called the Vinh long stretch.
Our accommodations are spacious and well laid out with a queen bed facing the water which I love. Letting the scenery pass by while taking a rest is exactly what we need after our go-go-go pace of the past week. By the way, No other river line I know of has designed their layout this way. I applaud Avalon for this detail as it really immerses guests in the destination.
Peacefully gliding down river, away from the bustle of Saigon (top photo with skyline) we eventually reached the straight stretch of the Mekong with its myriad of boats transporting anything imaginable up and down river (middle). The sunset (bottom) only enhanced that magical setting of steady industriousness.
We are looking forward to our next few days of relaxing time – interspersed with educational visits to small villages and meetings with locals.
