Fond memories of our special trip to Punta Cana with and for my late mother’ birthday are flashing through my head as I fly on United high above the clouds somewhere over Ohio.
“Has it really been that long since we spent that memorable week together?” I contemplated and answered for myself. “Yes, but in ways it feels still like it was only yesterday.” Yet I know that life happened in between and lots of it. Momentous occasions such as the millennium we celebrated together in Paris, 9/11, weddings, births, and funerals, and so much more. What will I find when I land? The same stunning sandy beaches or development and litter? How has the D.R. Changed? All answers I hope to share this coming week. Thus my eager anticipation for a return to the Dominican half of Hispaniola island (Haiti makes up the other half) today.
