Operating since 2003, this scenic train runs on the 30cm narrow gauge tracks of the sugar cane industry which dominated this island nation for over 100 years under colonial reign from the British and French. At its height, over 35 miles of track existed on this 65 square mile island. Today, the train takes visitors on a 18 mile journey along the eastern shore from its depot at Basseterre to Dieppe Bay town. From there, our coach driver picked us up to close the circle-island tour by bus.

Note that at this time, due to COVID-19 precautions, trains operate on a “bubble basis” meaning our group of 18 from the Seabourn Odyssey were the only guests divided on two rail cars. It turned this excursion into a private experience. Absolutely fantastic!
