(Roam)ing in San Miguel de Allende – Belmond Casa Sierra Nevada

Full moon over the gardens of San Miguel de Allende

Over the last few years, high end hotel options expanded in San Miguel de Allende with the openings of the Rosewood and most recently, the Aqua property. Yet, the grande dame of curated accommodations remains the Belmond Casa Sierra Nevada in the center of town. Spread over 6 17th century mansions, each of the 37 rooms has views over town, locally made furnishings, and the most amazing staff that makes you feel special.

My room at Casa de Sierra Nevada

This stay represented my 4th stay at a Belmond property, each unique and charming, integrated into the respective local culture, and staffed by passionate locals that go above and beyond to make every guest feel at home. It represents the pinnacle of hospitality from my vantage point.

A fabulous stay at a legendary property in a remarkable town for 3 nights is a treat in itself. Add to that a local host, 3 nights in Mexico City to start, and lots of private events and immersive experiences, and you get the newest travel product called ROAM, launched by Tauck Tours who have perfect the guided discovery of destinations around the world over their 100+ year history. Tailored to 40 to 60 year olds with energy and curiosity, this new lineup hits the bull’s eye of my demographic.

Talk to your travel advisor about this option which we got to test out personally on this special trip as part of our advisory board function. Both, Tauck and San Miguel de Allende should be on your “to do” travel list in the near future.
