My week aboard is coming to an end today in Fort Lauderdale with an uncelebratory early debarkation. Once again my Global Entry saved the day as it allowed me to bypass the long lines of passengers via special line. Voila, 40 minutes saved and on the transfer bus to the airport I went.
Tip: even occasional travelers benefit from Global Entry which for a small fee ($100 for 5 years) grants expedited entry I to the United States and comes with TSA Pre clearance as well.
Fortunately I had time throughput the week to take in many of the great entertainment venues onboard. Above is a picture from the exclusive Princess production show “Fantastic Journey” a 50 minute song and dance extravaganza with chart topping hits ranging from lady Gaga to Michael Jackson and even a Eurovision Song Contest number. It was well done, high energy and just the right length.
Not in the mood for longes and theatres, do not worry, the on-demand Flatscreen TV in each stateroom offer such classics as “The Loveboat” https://youtu.be/2S4u_YOs9TQ
Thank you to the #Princesscruises team (Marsha, Korey, Dana, & Christine) for all their support and friendship over the years.
My verdict on Princess Cruises is mixed.
Exquisite deserts at Sabatini’s and in the Crown Grill aside, food overall was fine but not inspiring.
Ocean Medallion is making life on board a lot easier by unlocking your stateroom door automatically when approaching. Medallion also means no more signatures at bars for drinks, it’s digital and seamless. Definitely a big enhancement!
Outstanding satelite based WiFi which is better than at many guests homes. Fast, reliable and at $69.95 for a 7 night sailing very reasonable. It allowed me to work remotely with WiFi calls clearer than anywhere in the States. A game-changer!
The biggest letdown are the cabins. On the small side to begin with, my balcony cabin featured dated furniture, only 2 power outlets for my many devices which meant rotating plugs constantly and worst of all, a tiny outdated bathroom with a shower plastic curtain – yuck!
In conclusion I find myself confirming impressions from a decade plus of selling and sailing on Princess. While many guests swear by the line, my preference lies elsewhere with a more contemporary and more premium experience such as Celebrity or CUNARD.
Nice pic with the old gang Rene’. Travel on my friend.
